350 chevy starter problem starter is not close enuff to the fly wheel?
It has 168 teeth on the fly wheel I compared it to a new one it was the same. Motor casting no. is 3970010 I need to find out what the right starter is for this combo. I have always had to space the outside bolt on the starter to get the starter closer to the flywheel. This truck is kick my butt. It is 1970 Chevy Truck but the motor came from? I dont know. I have tried to get all kinds of starters for this thing and none of them get close enuff to the flywheel.
if you have 168 teeth, you need a starter for a manual transmission, 153 teeth would be for automatics
