I’m 5′9″ and 185.I’m currently taking bjj and freestyle kickboxing.I’m gonna fight a 6′ 285 pounder.
I can easily bring the fight to the ground but this is a fight so I can’t choke him out without killing him so I need to rely on my striking which isn’t that great.Kickboxing is my only choice but he is taller than me so that doesn’t work either.
Any suggestions?

Seriously, 100lbs weight advantage sucks. Taking him down is going to be a lot harder than you think. (DO NOT SHOOT ON THIS GUY) you have to take him down to the rear, if you shoot, even if he half @ss sprawls on you, you are going to have his weight on your back. Take him with a Outside reap (O soto Gari) then you land on top…
Secondly, when you say fight I am assuming a street type fight right? Choke his ass out, period end of story. You will not kill him. (I wonder about your BJJ experience if you have never put someone out before) You choke him, hold it on for 15 or 20 seconds, he will be out for a good minute or two. (wait till he convulses and snores, then you know he will be out for a bit) Enough time to walk away, or weave a basket or whatever.
Hell, you really worried about it, choke him out, then when he is unconscious beat the hell out of him. Or snap an arm or leg, when he wakes up he is pretty much screwed.
(btw, snapping someone’s arm after choking them, usually wakes them up)
Don’t strike with someone who outweighs you by 100lbs, even if you are more agile, and more technical, he still only needs one or two shots to put a hurting on you. Plus one way or another you are going to grapple with him. If you do land good shots, he will grab you.
At some point it will be grappling, and then the choke and sleepy nap time for him comes.
